Being labeled as a ‘smart person’ doesn’t always mean that you don’t do dumb things. Just because a smart person has a high IQ doesn’t necessarily mean that they don’t make mistakes in their daily lives. Just like the rest of us ‘average’ people you can usually point to something in a smart person’s personality or daily lives that makes you wonder how someone so smart could do something so stupid. Whether you are on the upper end of the IQ scale or not we’re sure you can relate to at least a few of these things. You’ll be pretty surprised to see that smart people aren’t always better at life than the rest of us.
1. Lack of confidence
Being smart can lead to a lot of pressure. This sounds surprising because in many cases the smartest people go to the best schools and get the best jobs with the highest pay. They live in big houses and drive nice cars but that still doesn’t mean they aren’t insecure like many of us normal people. There’s actually a scientific term called ‘imposter syndrome’ which describes this condition that many smart people suffer from. It means “a collection of feelings of inadequacy that persist even in face of information that indicates that the opposite is true.” Basically some smart people feel like it’s all luck that they got where they are and one day they will be found out to be a fake.
