If you’re a cat owner, you probably love your cat more than most other living things. We do our best to keep our cat safe and healthy and happy. Sometimes, though, we don’t always know what the right thing to do is.
There are things that we humans do that could drastically shorten a cat’s lifespan, and we may not even know it. Understanding the right things to do when it comes to keeping your cat safe will give them the longest and happiest life they could ever know.
Keep an eye out for the habits that humans do, sometimes unknowingly, that can put your cat in danger.
1. Letting Them Outside

Even if you’ve had plenty of outdoor cats and swear by letting them outside, it’s a fact that indoor cats live longer than those who are allowed outside. You can never be sure where your cat could go or what your cat could get into when you let them outside.
They’re at greater risk of poisoning, getting struck by a vehicle, predators, and fights with other cats or other animals. Keeping your cat indoors is the best way to let them live long, healthy lives.
They’ll be grateful for it in the end. If you want to give your cat an outdoor experience, give them a window with a screen and a nice place to rest.
